The investigation into the murder of estate agent Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after police uncovered a deeper personal connection between the two accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators report that Chaudhary was known to Goyal’s elder brother, Sahil Goyal, through cricket, and this association eventually brought the two accused into contact. According to police sources, Chaudhary, a cricket player, had played matches alongside Sahil, and Goyal would often accompany her brother to games. This is presumed to be the place where the duo got introduced to each other for the first time and then reunited after some time.

They reconnected in 2025 during a Diwali party arranged by their common friend. Their number of interactions grew immensely after that event. The call detail record analysis done by the investigators suggests that both were in regular touch for some months. As per the police record, starting from January, Goyal and Chaudhary communicated as much as 2,004 times.

On Friday, police questioned Sahil Goyal for nearly ten hours regarding his sister's relationship with Chaudhary before allowing him to return home. A local police official confirmed that he had been summoned for questioning in the morning and was permitted to leave late in the evening, noting that Sahil knows Chaudhary and officers needed to cross-check specific details with him. Alongside this interrogation, local police plan to record statements from other relatives connected to the case.

The inquiry has now expanded into digital evidence after police found that both accused allegedly deleted their conversations and online activity from their mobile devices. Investigators stated that WhatsApp chats, Instagram interactions, and other erased digital records from both phones are currently undergoing forensic analysis. Police suspect that conversations were wiped both before and after the incident at Lohagad. Sources added that the accused did not stop at deleting messages but also cleared recycle bins and removed traces from their devices, necessitating forensic recovery to reconstruct the communication timelines.

Furthermore, police have identified a meeting between Goyal and Chaudhary that took place the day before Ketan Agarwal’s death. According to investigators, the two met at a café in Pune’s Lullanagar area on June 17, remaining there for nearly an hour between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Officers are now examining whether discussions connected to the alleged crime took place during this meeting.
