A software engineer, arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Pune earlier this week for alleged links with Al-Qaeda, is said to have followed speeches delivered by the terror outfit's founder, Osama Bin Laden.
Among the items recovered from Zuber Hungargekar's possession following his arrest by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday was the Urdu translation of a speech by Bin Laden, sources revealed.
Photographs depicting Hungargekar handling an AK-47 rifle and manufacturing bombs were also seized from his possession. Authorities are currently working to determine his involvement in radicalising young individuals, the sources further stated.
Hungargekar, who had been under ATS surveillance since the previous month, was apprehended from the Kondhwa area under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Special UAPA Court granted police custody remand for him until November 4.
During the court proceedings, the police informed the court that Hungargekar was allegedly engaged in anti-national activities and was planning terror strikes in Maharashtra as well as in other cities.

Originally from Solapur, Hungargekar is described as well-educated, with specialisation in software testing and database development. Prior to his arrest, he was employed at a software IT company in Kalyani Nagar, where he earned a substantial salary, according to the sources.
A few days prior, the ATS conducted extensive raids across 25-26 locations in the Kondhwa area in connection with a terror funding case.
Upon examination of the materials seized during these raids, multiple indicators emerged pointing to Hungargekar's suspicious activities, the sources indicated. The digital evidence and documents recovered are presently under scrutiny to evaluate the potential involvement of additional individuals linked to this network.
