Punjab BJP leaders on Wednesday visited religious places and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India's longest continuously serving elected prime minister. They said Modi's political journey reflects his commitment to public service, strong leadership and efforts towards the country's development.
Modi, who took office as prime minister on May 26, 2014, achieved the milestone on Wednesday by completing more than 4,398 consecutive days in office. He surpassed the previous record held by India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon paid obeisance at a gurdwara in Chandigarh. Pathankot MLA and senior BJP leader Ashwani Sharma took part in a collective recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa and offered prayers at Shri Kali Mata Temple in Pathankot.
In a post on X, Dhillon said he visited the gurdwara to express gratitude on the completion of Narendra Modi's historic 12-year tenure as prime minister. He also prayed for the country's progress, Punjab's prosperity and the continued growth of the BJP.
Dhillon said several important initiatives benefiting the nation and the Sikh community had been undertaken during Modi's tenure. He added that the prime minister has led the country forward with the vision of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas."
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh also paid obeisance at Sri Bangla Sahib Gurdwara in Delhi. Chugh said he offered prayers for the country's peace, prosperity and continued development on the occasion of the Centre completing 12 years under Modi's leadership. He said India has achieved significant progress in development, security and international standing during this period, making citizens proud of the country's achievements.
Ashwani Sharma said he joined prayers and religious rituals at Shri Kali Mata Temple to mark the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. He said prayers were offered for the country's unity, security, prosperity and overall well-being. He added that India has strengthened its position globally in areas such as infrastructure, welfare schemes and digital empowerment over the past 12 years.
Sharma said “From becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India to continuously leading the nation for a third term, Narendra Modi Ji's journey is a symbol of unwavering dedication to nation-building, strong will, and a spirit of service. We are all committed to realizing the vision of a developed India.”
