In a major administrative move, the Punjab government has transferred 177 Naib Tehsildars and 58 Tehsildars. This decision follows the recent suspension of 14 Tehsildars who refused to register sale deeds despite a final warning.
The Department of Revenue and Rehabilitation issued an official notification confirming the immediate transfers. The action comes after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had warned Tehsildars to resume work by 5 pm or face suspension.
The ongoing Tehsildar strike has disrupted land registry services across Punjab, with officials going on mass casual leave to protest against a vigilance investigation. As a result, no land registrations were processed on Monday and Tuesday, leading to significant revenue losses for the state.
This development remains a key issue in Punjab news, as the government takes strict measures to ensure the smooth functioning of administrative services.
