Punjab, Haryana celebrate Holi with colours and festive joy

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini extend Holi greetings to the public.

Holi celebrated across Haryana, Punjab.


Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated with great excitement in Punjab and Haryana on Friday. Children threw water balloons filled with colours, people applied ‘gulal’ on each other’s faces, and sweets were shared with friends and family. 


Some revellers rode through the streets on motorbikes, while others danced to lively music.


Police in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh took special measures to ensure a safe celebration. Traffic police and local officers were stationed at various locations to prevent reckless driving and hooliganism.

 


In Amritsar, a large number of devotees visited the Durgiana Temple during the day. At Anandpur Sahib, a massive crowd gathered to celebrate Holla Mohalla, a Sikh festival observed around the same time as Holi.


Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended Holi greetings to the people. Kataria shared his wishes, calling Holi a festival of joy, unity, and harmony that represents India's rich cultural heritage.

Mann expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness and strengthen bonds of love and brotherhood. He and his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, also offered prayers at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.


Haryana Governor Dattatreya encouraged people to celebrate Holi with love and enthusiasm, while CM Saini emphasized that the festival is a symbol of unity, brotherhood, and social harmony.


On Thursday evening, a “Holi Milan Samaroh” was organised at Haryana Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister Saini, Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, and other senior officials attended the event. Governor Dattatreya greeted them by applying ‘gulal’ and showering flowers, wishing everyone a Happy Holi.
