The Punjab government has released Rs 314.22 crore to support the education, safety and future of orphaned and dependent children in the state, an official statement said on Friday.

The financial assistance is expected to benefit over 2.37 lakh children across Punjab, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur said.

The minister said the state government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains committed to child welfare and wants to ensure that no child is forced to abandon education or aspirations due to poverty, neglect or hardship.
