The Punjab Police have dismantled an interstate illegal gun module, arresting 17 individuals and seizing 18 weapons, 66 cartridges, and 1.1 kg of heroin. The operation, which lasted two weeks, was led by the interstate illegal gun module.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced the success of the operation on social media, stating, "In a major breakthrough, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police busts an interstate illegal gun module, arrests 17 persons, and recovers 18 weapons, 66 cartridges, and 1.1-kg heroin."
Among those arrested is notorious gangster Kannu Gujjar, a close associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya.
The group was involved in several heinous crimes across Punjab and was responsible for supplying weapons and logistical support to gangs operating in Punjab and Haryana.
The police revealed that over 38 criminal cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, marking a significant blow to organised crime in the region.
