Punjab Police, on Thursday, arrested Vikramjit Singh, a resident of Batala, suspected of being part of a terror module backed by the banned organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The module was allegedly operated by Harpreet Singh, a wanted terrorist based in the USA, and his associate Resham Singh, based in Italy.
According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the arrest was made possible due to intelligence inputs received by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar. The police recovered a .32 bore pistol, 2 magazines, 9 live cartridges, and an empty bullet shell from Vikramjit's possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Vikramjit had been in touch with Resham Singh for the last five to six years and was recently introduced to Harpreet Singh, who allegedly tasked him with illegal activities.
The police believe that Vikramjit was involved in delivering weapons and ammunition to gang members.
A case has been registered under the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act in Amritsar.
The police is investigating further to establish linkages in this case.
