Punjab Police announced on Sunday that it had successfully dismantled a narco-terror module with the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 4 kg of heroin.
The operation, led by the Counter-Intelligence wing in Amritsar, was based on intelligence inputs and aimed at curbing the drug trade linked to organised crime and cross-border smuggling networks.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed that a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the DGP stated, "In an intelligence-led operation, Counter-Intelligence, Amritsar, has busted a narco-terror module, arrested four individuals, and recovered 4 kg of heroin from their possession."
Providing further details, Yadav identified the arrested individuals as Navjot Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and Aniket. They were taken into custody near Naraingarh Government Hospital in Amritsar's Chheharta area. Authorities are now conducting a deeper probe to establish the module’s forward and backward linkages, including potential cross-border connections.
Reiterating the Punjab Police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and organised crime, DGP Yadav assured that strict action would continue against elements attempting to disrupt peace and security in the state.
