A Punjab police commando’s son was brutally murdered inside his house in Pipli village late on Sunday evening. According to officials, the gruesome murder has shocked everyone as investigators found the victim’s hands, feet, and mouth bound with ropes and his body lying in a pool of blood.
Investigators have zeroed in on four people, including a woman, for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy to kill the youth.
The victim has been identified as Arshdeep Singh, a resident of Faridkot town and the eldest son of Harnek Singh, who is posted with the Commando Battalion of Punjab Police in Chandigarh.
As per the FIR registered on Harnek Singh's statement, Arshdeep had recently confided in his father over the phone that a woman named Harpreet Kaur had been persistently calling him and pressuring him to reciprocate a relationship.
Singh told investigators that his son was visibly terrified by the unwanted advances.
Alarmed by his son’s distress, he took leave and rushed home, intending to approach the family of Harpreet Kaur in Pipli village. Officials were told that before the panchayat could intervene, tragedy struck.
After briefly stepping out to attend a relative’s funeral, Harnek Singh returned home to find Arshdeep missing. He then approached the elders, including Sarpanch Iqbal Singh and other village elders.
The reports later confirmed that when Chamkaur Singh, Harpreet’s father, and others reached the house, they were met with a chilling sight — three men sprinting away from the house, their clothes drenched in blood, with one of them clutching an axe.
The eyewitnesses present at the scene identified the fleeing men as Chamkaur Singh, his son Satnam Singh and son-in-law Simarjeet Singh.
Police have registered a case against Harpreet Kaur, her husband Simarjeet Singh, her father Chamkaur Singh, and her brother Satnam Singh under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, pertaining to murder and criminal conspiracy.
