The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with the Moga police, arrested notorious gangster Malkit Singh, also known as Manu, after a brief encounter.

Manu, a resident of Dosanjh Talwandi in Moga, is known to be an associate of foreign-based gangsters Gaurav alias Lucky Patyal and Davinderpal Singh alias Gopi Lahoria, who belong to the Davinder Bambiha Gang.

Manu has a long history of criminal activities, with at least seven cases registered against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and violations under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. He was involved in a murder and attempted murder case in Kapura village, Moga, on February 19, and was also responsible for a firing incident at Raja Dhaba in Jagraon on February 26.

According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the attack at the dhaba was carried out under the instructions of gangster Lucky Patyal, who operates from abroad.

Providing details of the operation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban stated that the arrest was made after police received crucial intelligence through both human sources and technical surveillance.

Special teams of AGTF, under the supervision of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Gurmeet Chauhan and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bikramjit Brar, led by Inspector Pushvinder Singh, tracked Manu to a rented accommodation in Moga. When the police team arrived, Manu opened fire, triggering a brief encounter.

He sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of gunfire and was immediately taken to a local hospital before being referred to Baba Farid Medical College in Faridkot for further treatment.

During the arrest, the police recovered a .32 caliber pistol along with four cartridges from Manu’s possession. AIG Gurmeet Chauhan stated that initial investigations suggest Manu was assigned a major criminal task in the Tricity area by his handlers, Lucky Patyal and Gopi Lahoria, who are based abroad.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about his criminal network and activities.
