The police on Tuesday have apprehended a 23-year-old man, a resident of Punjab resident, with 55.6 grams of 'chitta' or adulterated heroin.
The accused has been identified as Armaan, a resident of Ferozpur Cantonment in Punjab.
A team was patrolling near Thapna tunnel in Bilaspur on Monday night when they spotted a man trying to get a lift, according to the police. When the police team questioned him, the man tried to escape. He also threw out the contraband from his pocket.
The accused was apprehended by the police and also seized the chitta which he tried to discard on the roadside.
Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal said a case under Sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the accused. Investigations was ongoing.
