For the first time in Punjab, a special Vidhan Sabha session will be held outside the state capital on November 24. This session is proposed to be held in Anandpur Sahib as part of the series of events to be observed by the state government to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Announcing this after holding a meeting with religious leaders on Saturday, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains said, “We are in talks with the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat to hold the Assembly session in Anandpur Sahib on November 24.”

He said five nagar kirtans would be taken out from different places from November 18. “CM Bhagwant Mann will lead the kirtan from Gurdwara Chathi Patshahi at Srinagar. Two nagar kirtans will also begin from Majha, Doaba, and from Bathinda and Faridkot in Malwa. They will converge at Anandpur Sahib on the evening of November 22. From November 23-25, seminars will be organised in Anandpur Sahib during the day and kirtans in the evenings,” said the minister.

Bains said blood donation camps, tree plantation and organ donation drives would also be organised at Anandpur Sahib on this occasion. “A heritage street will be built there and its foundation stone will be laid by the CM on Sunday,” he added.
