Rahul vows to raise Poonch victims' concerns at national level

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited Poonch to meet the families affected by recent cross-border shelling. During his media interaction, Rahul called the situation “a very big tragedy” and expressed solidarity with the victims.

 

He said a lot of people have died and suffered losses. “I spoke to the people and tried to understand their problems. They told me that they want to raise a couple of things at the national level, and I will raise them,” he said. He also interacted with students and told them to study and play hard to react to this situation.

 

“Now, you have seen danger and a little bit of a frightening situation, but don’t worry, everything will come back to normal. Your way of responding to this problem should be to study and play hard and make a lot of friends in school,” the Congress MP said.

 

Gandhi also visited the civilian areas and the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Poonch affected by the cross-border shelling by Pakistan. The Lok Sabha LoP also posted on X about his visit, asserting that he will raise the people’s demands and issues at the national level.

“I stand strongly with the victim families—I will raise their demands and issues at the national level,” Rahul Gandhi added. Poonch has been the worst affected by the recent cross-border shelling, witnessing massive civilian infrastructure damage and also the livestock worth several hundred crores.
