Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Kurukshetra on Wednesday to address a training camp of district unit presidents from Haryana and Uttarakhand. The training camp for District Congress Committee (DCC) chiefs from the two states is being held in Kurukshetra from January 13 to January 22.

After landing at Ambala airport, Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, travelled to Kurukshetra by road. He was received at the airport by senior Congress leaders, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Haryana Congress chief Rao Narender Singh and party general secretary-in-charge B K Hariprasad.

The Congress appointed district unit presidents in Haryana last year after a gap of over ten years. A total of 32 DCC chiefs were appointed in August under the party’s ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’.

In Uttarakhand, the party appointed 27 new District Congress Committee presidents in November last year.

The training camp has been organised to strengthen the party’s organisational structure in Haryana and Uttarakhand and to reinforce its presence at the grassroots level.

Senior Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala have already addressed the district presidents during the camp.
Congress MLA Ashok Arora said the training sessions cover several topics, including the party’s history, ideology, policies, organisational working and its future political roadmap.
