The Meteorological Department (MeT) in Srinagar on Saturday forecast fluctuating weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and strong gusty winds likely in many areas.
MeT Director Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said there are chances of light, intermittent rain and thundershowers towards the evening on Saturday. On Sunday and Monday, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy, with intermittent rain, strong winds, and the possibility of hailstorms in some places.
Similar conditions are expected to continue on May 5, while improvement is likely from May 6 to 9. From May 10 onwards, the weather is expected to remain largely dry, though brief spells of light rain may occur at isolated places during the afternoon hours.
Authorities have urged people to avoid standing near weak structures, electric poles, and overhead wires. Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural activities from May 3 to May 5.
Meanwhile, traffic on the Doda–Kishtwar road has been suspended following a major landslide at Gatsoo near Pul Doda early Saturday morning, officials said. The landslide has completely blocked the road, disrupting traffic movement in the area.
