Monday morning brought a change in the weather for Delhi as parts of the capital were lashed by rain, prompting the India Meteorological Department to forecast continued light to moderate showers across the city. The onset of thunderstorms and lightning is expected to continue for the next few hours. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are also expected, according to the met office. Such weather is expected to continue not only in central Delhi but also in other areas such as Noida, Ghaziabad, and Bahadurgarh.
The 'yellow' alert will be in effect until approximately 11:20 am. Despite the damp start to the day, temperatures are remaining relatively mild. The minimum temperature recorded this morning was 16 degrees Celsius, with the maximum expected to fall within a range of 30-32 degrees Celsius later this afternoon. Humidity was described as moderate during the early hours, with overcast conditions expected to prevail throughout the day, along with intermittent drizzle.
On the environmental front, the city’s air quality has held steady in the 'moderate' category. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 133 on Monday morning. Under the current grading system, any reading between 101 and 200 is classified as moderate, and experts from the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) suggest that Delhi is likely to remain within this bracket for the coming days.
