Rain likely across Himachal till June 23

The weather office has forecast rainy weather across Himachal till June 23. A fresh western disturbance is expected to influence weather conditions over northwest India from June 18.

Several parts of Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate rainfall during the last 24 hours ending Wednesday evening. The Meteorological Department has also issued alerts for hailstorms and thunderstorms in parts of the state over the next two days.

 

The weather office has forecast rainy weather across Himachal till June 23. A fresh western disturbance is expected to influence weather conditions over northwest India from June 18.

 

The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for hailstorms, thunderstorms and strong winds of 40-50 kmph in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla districts on Thursday. Similar conditions are expected in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla on Friday.

 

The department has also warned of thunderstorms and winds of 30-40 kmph in most districts on Saturday and Sunday. Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti are likely to remain unaffected by this alert.

 

Early Wednesday morning, Shimla and nearby areas witnessed thunderstorms along with strong winds. Rain and thunderstorm activity was also reported from Jubberhatti, Kangra, Sundernagar, Bhunter and Kufri.

 

Kataula recorded the highest rainfall at 60.1 mm. It was followed by Mandi with 37.2 mm, Jubberhatti with 22 mm, Jogindarnagar with 16 mm, Pandoh with 15.8 mm, Baggi with 12 mm, Bhunter with 8.6 mm, Shimla with 3.4 mm, Rampur with 3.3 mm, and Jot and Gohar with 2 mm each.

 

Kukumseri remained the coldest place in the state during the night, recording a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius. Neri was the hottest during the day with a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius.
