The cold wave conditions persist across Kashmir valley while minimum temperatures across Jammu division improve with recent snowfall occurrences over the higher reaches.
The Met Centre Srinagar has forecasted scattered light to moderate rain and snow across J&K over the next three days starting today.
According to the Met Office, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rain and snow likely at scattered locations across the region over the next 24 hours.
A fresh spell of snowfall is anticipated in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir over the higher reaches on January 22-23.
During this period, the snowfall is likely to occur over the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal regions.
However, the weather is expected to remain dry from January 24-28, with the possibility of another wet spell between January 29-31.
Meanwhile, the night temperatures across Kashmir Valley on Sunday plummeted to sub-zero at most weather stations across the valley.
The summer capital, which is currently witnessing clear skies, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius against the minus 1 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night, and this was 1.2°C below average.
Additionally, the famous tourist and ski resort Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7.8 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day on Monday, and this was 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal for the Valley of Meadows during this period of the season.
Furthermore, Pahalgam, serving as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius against the minus 3 degrees Celsius the previous night.
