Heavy rain triggers landslides and flash floods across Himachal Pradesh.

Continuous heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to widespread disruption across several parts of Himachal Pradesh, with reports of landslides, waterlogging, and damaged roads coming in from multiple districts.

Revenue, Tribal Development, and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi shared that since June 20, 34 people have tragically lost their lives in the state due to rain-related accidents and weather-triggered incidents. He noted that the situation remains serious, and efforts are underway to respond and provide relief in the affected areas.

The minister said, "Since June 20, a total of 34 deaths have occurred in Himachal Pradesh. Of these, 17 people died due to rain-related incidents, and the remaining 17 lost their lives in road accidents."

He further shared that nine people were swept away in a recent flash flood in Dharamshala. By Saturday evening, six bodies had been recovered, and the seventh was found on Sunday, he confirmed.

"The recovered body is yet to be identified. As of now, only one person remains missing in the Dharamshala incident," he said.

In Nalagarh, heavy rains resulted in waterlogging near Chakki and Jo bridges, with rainwater entering several homes in several areas of Baddi. However, officials confirmed that the situation is now under control.

Jagat Singh Negi also mentioned that National Highway-5, which had been temporarily closed near Chakki Modh, has since been cleared for single-lane traffic. "The four-lane section has not yet been restored, so traffic is being allowed on a single lane as a precaution," he added.

The minister shared that work is underway on a war footing to restore power transformers, water supply schemes, and DTH infrastructure damaged during the recent spell of heavy rain.

Jagat Singh Negi further mentioned that he will be holding a high-level review meeting on Monday with vital departments — including Revenue, PWD, Disaster Management, Jal Shakti, and Power — to assess monsoon preparedness and ongoing restoration efforts across the state.

"All district disaster management authorities, revenue and police departments, and the State Disaster Management Authority have been put on high alert following the IMD's warning of continued heavy rainfall," he said.

In Shimla, minor landslides were reported in areas like Kalini, Mahali, and along the Dhalli bypass, though officials confirmed that no major damage occurred.

The Kalka–Shimla railway line also suffered disruptions due to fallen trees, boulders, and minor landslides in Solan. Train services were briefly suspended but have now resumed after successful clearance work.

Meanwhile, rising water levels in the Sutlej and Beas rivers have crossed the danger mark, prompting alerts in low-lying areas. With the monsoon intensifying, the state government has directed field officers to remain on high alert and respond swiftly to any rain-related emergencies.
