Chemists in Rajasthan have alleged irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), pending dues, and missing bills. Alarming the irregularities, the chemist association of the state threatened to go on a protest, claiming that payments worth Rs 880 crore are pending, with over 3 lakh bills disappeared from the scheme's portal.
The state government failed to take any action despite repeated requests made by the association, said the Rajasthan Chemist Association (RCA) President, Vivek Vijayvargiya.
"Despite repeated requests, the state government has taken no positive step to resolve the issue. Looking at the situation, the chemists have decided to go on a strike to mount pressure on the government," Vijayvargiya cited.
"The chemists are facing financial losses," he added.
"More than 5,000 chemist families across Rajasthan are fighting for justice," he said, adding that the chemists are not able to pay their children’s fees, while many shops are on the verge of getting shut amid the increasing debt and financial pressure.
Following the whole situation, RCA’s Vice President, Sachin Goyal, and Secretary Ravi Gupta announced that a state-wide protest will be launched against this soon. They then added that the government had assured them that payment would be cleared within 21 days, and the dues were allegedly being delayed for six to seven months.
"Dues worth Rs 880 crore are stuck due to arbitrariness by departmental officials and the third-party administrator (TPA). More than three lakh bills have gone missing from the RGHS portal, and no official response has been received so far," they said.
