The Rajasthan government has found 2,699 structurally weak buildings in 224 urban local bodies, which are now to be sealed or razed as part of a statewide campaign against accidents, officials reported on Friday. Urban Development Department Secretary Ravi Jain has directed civic officials to be on high alert and take immediate action to maintain public safety during the campaign.
He ordered that all unsafe buildings be identified by prominent warning boards to inform people and avoid any unfortunate mishap.
In a statement, Jain emphasised the need for frequent on-site inspections, accelerating demolition of unsafe buildings, and ensuring citizen safety.

He also pointed out electrical hazards and asked officials to collaborate with DISCOM engineers to repair loose or exposed wires along roadsides, poles, transformer boxes, and switchboards.
Additionally, Jain said that switch boxes which are damaged should immediately be rectified and the fire and emergency personnel should be on call for any rain-related problems.
