In a shocking incident from Rajasthan's Bhilwara district, a man has printed condolence notice and held a funeral feast for his daughter after she married a man of her own choice, against her family’s wishes.

The unusual act took place in Sareri village, where Bhairulal Joshi had arranged his daughter Pooja’s marriage to Sanjay Tiwari, a local man. According to relatives, the family had spent several lakhs of rupees on the wedding, which was formalised in April of this year.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when Pooja went missing on July 29. Joshi subsequently filed a police report, stating that his daughter had left to take an exam at Manikya Lal Verma College and never returned. Head Constable Shravan Kumar said police began a search and, after tracing Pooja’s phone, discovered she had willingly married a relative of her husband, Suraj Tiwari.

Speaking to reporters, Joshi explained his actions: "When my daughter came to the police station, she gave statements against us. I am deeply hurt and thus have decided to conduct her funeral. She is dead for the family." He have printed a condolence notice in her name.

Joshi has also been observing a 12-day mourning period at home and held a 'mrityubhoj' (funeral feast) on August 10. Reports suggest that local villagers and family members have been attending the rituals.
