The anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district entered its 35th day on Friday, as security forces continue to track militants hiding in forest areas.
Code-named Operation Sheruwali, the operation has stretched to nearly five weeks in the Dorimal forests of the Gambhir Mughlan area.
Joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG), Army, and other security agencies remain deployed in the region.
Operation Sheruwali is a large-scale counter-terrorism combing mission in the dense forests of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan sector of Rajouri district. Launched in late May following multiple gunfights between militants and security forces, the operation has been challenged by difficult terrain as security personnel continue efforts to track down the hiding terrorists.
A massive search operation is underway in the forest area, with coordinated human and technical surveillance, including K-9 squads of the Indian Army. According to officials, all agencies involved in the operation are maintaining close coordination to achieve the mission's objectives.
Officials said the operation is still underway, with security forces continuing to dominate the area through extensive search operations and monitoring. Additional security measures remain in place to prevent any untoward incident.
The operation will continue until the forest area is fully sanitised and the mission objectives are achieved.
