The Rajouri encounter entered its fourth day on Tuesday as massive combing operations continued in multiple areas of the district, officials said.
The search operation is underway in the forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district, following intelligence inputs about the presence of suspected terrorists in the region.
According to fresh inputs, security forces have busted a hideout in the forest area, while the search operation continues to track down the hiding terrorists.
The joint operation is being carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the rugged forest terrain of the Pir Panjal belt.
Since the first contact was established with the terrorists on Saturday, there has been no further contact with the terrorists. However, security forces believe the suspects are still hiding in the forest area.
Earlier, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps had said contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation conducted with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF in the Gambhir Mughlan area.
Local residents said security deployment in the area has increased significantly over the past few days. The region remains under tight security as search operations continue in the dense forest areas.
