Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren, who is also the president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and his party have challenged the order of Lokpal, in which the Lokpal has ordered the CBI to investigate the case of disproportionate assets.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has approached the Delhi High Court and filed a petition against the order of the Lokpal, on which a hearing is likely to be held on April 23.

The party has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court through Supreme Court Advocate on Record Pragya Singh Baghel.

On February 22, the Lokpal, while giving its verdict on the complaint filed against Shibu Soren in the disproportionate assets case, ordered the CBI to investigate the case.

The Lokpal has also asked the CBI to submit a copy of the investigation report to it and has asked the investigation agency to send monthly progress reports and keep it informed about the progress of the investigation every month. The first such report should come on or before April 30, 2024.

The Lokpal has asked the CBI to complete an investigation in two properties out of the 82 properties list submitted by the central probe agency after it registered a PE in the case.

The Lokpal said in its order on Monday that the CBI is free to take necessary action at its level regarding the findings revealed during the preliminary investigation of the 80 other properties.

BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey had filed a complaint before the Lokpal in 2020 and had accused Rajya Sabha MP and former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren and other members of his family of amassing disproportionate assets.
