In a display of communal harmony, people across West Bengal came together on Ram Navami, not just to celebrate the festival but to send a powerful message of brotherhood between two religious communities.

While traditional arms processions marked the day in many parts of the state, the true highlight was the spirit of togetherness shared by people of different faiths.

In Rampurhat, Birbhum, Aksar Hossain and Riazul Hakera, stood waiting since morning. As the Ram Navami procession passed by around noon, they offered water bottles and sweet to every participant.

“This is our way of spreading the message of peace and harmony,” said Hoddain. Their gesture was warmly welcomed by all, and Rampurhat's Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Ashish Banerjee also joined the moment of solidarity.

In English Bazaar, Malda, Rahim Shekhera and others showered flowers on the Ram Navami procession and greeted the participants with hugs and sweets.

“This is India. We are all one. Hindu-Muslim, brothers and sisters — we all want peace,” said Rahim.

Even political boundaries blurred in Dubrajpur, Birbhum, where leaders from both the TMC and BJP walked together in the Ram Navami procession organised by the 'Jai Shri Ram Seva Samiti'. Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Anup Kumar Saha, TMC's vice president Malay Mukherjee, and Dubrajpur municipality chairman Piyush Pandey were seen shoulder to shoulder, putting aside party lines in the spirit of togetherness.

In Howrah's Salkia area, TMC MLA Gautam Chowdhury participated in a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession. “I attend all religious events in my constituency. Today, I was invited, so I came,” he said, emphasising his commitment to inclusivity.

Across Bengal, Ram Navami saw participation from leaders of all major political parties. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari walked in the Nandigram procession, while BJP’s Dilip Ghosh held a programme in Kharagpur. Trinamool MP Shatabdi Roy joined the procession in Birbhum's Suri and former minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury did the same in Malda town. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her greetings on social media, urging citizens to uphold peace and harmony.
