Ramdas Soren, a senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), who also hails from Kolhan region of the State, is set to take over the position in the Jharkhand cabinet previously held by former Chief Minister Champai Soren.
On Friday, Champai Soren will officially switch to the BJP in Ranchi, where he will be joined by Union Minister and Jharkhand election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chauhan, as well as co-election in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Ramdas Soren, who represents Ghatshila in the Jharkhand Assembly and is the most senior leader in Kolhan after Champai Soren, will be sworn in during a ceremony at Raj Bhawan in Ranchi at 11 am on August 30.
There had been speculation that Ramdas Soren might follow Champai Soren in joining the BJP when Champai travelled to Delhi last week, but Ramdas dismissed these rumours.
Both Ramdas Soren and Champai Soren, along with Shibu Soren, played significant roles in the separate Jharkhand movement. Ramdas Soren is also known for his influence among the tribal communities in the Kolhan region.
Champai Soren resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and his ministerial post late on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the BJP has planned a grand felicitation cum meeting program on August 30 to welcome Champai Soren into the saffron fold.

Soren will join BJP with thousands of supporters in the programme under the leadership of BJP State President and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi.
