The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Ranchi Civil Court has issued summons to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The CJM has asked Hemant Soren to present his stand on the complaint filed by ED.
The court had given its verdict on the complaint filed by ED on March 04.
The court has initially held that Hemant Soren violated the ED summons.
It then directed to issue summons to Soren, which were issued to the Ex CM on Monday.
The ED has alleged in the complaint that the agency sent summons to the former Chief Minister 10 times to record his statement in the land scam case but he appeared only in 2.
"This is a violation of PMLA laws," said the agency.
Soren is currently in judicial custody in the Ranchi land scam case.
Recently, the court had extended his judicial custody for 14 days. He was arrested by ED on January 31 and was interrogated for 13 day by ED officials.
ED had summoned Hemant Soren 10 times between August 2023 and January 2024, but he was available for questioning only twice. Soren appeared for questioning on the 8th summons on 20th January and on the 10th summons on 31st January.
Soren is accused in the case of illegal purchase and sale of 8.5 acres of land in Badagain area of Ranchi. ED is investigating the case from the angle of money laundering.
In this case, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan and former Deputy Revenue Inspector of Badgai Circle Bhanupratap Prasad are also lodged in jail.
A total of 13 people are under investigation in this case.
