Ranchi Police send notice to ED Officers in ST-SC case, call them for questioning

Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren had registered an FIR against ED officers and journalists in the ST-SC Police Station.

Ranchi Police have sent notices to the Enforcement Directorate officials in the case registered by former Chief Minister Hemant Soren against them in the ST-SC police station. Notices have been sent to ED's Associate Director Kapil Raj, Assistant Director Devvrat Jha, Anupam Kumar and one other officer.

 

Police have sent the notices to them under CRPC-41A and called them for questioning. The ED officers have been asked to appear at Gonda police station in Ranchi. Ranchi Police have also appointed an investigation officer in the case.

 

Hemant Soren had made the allegation through an application in the ST SC police station on January 31, the day when he was arrested by ED. Soren had accused the ED of tarnishing his image.

 

On January 27, ED sleuths conducted a search operation at Hemant Soren's official residence in Delhi. A few hours before his arrest, Soren had applied to the ST-SC police station of Ranchi and registered an FIR against the ED officers.

 

He had alleged in the FIR that the ED officers had conducted raids at his Delhi residence and Jharkhand Bhawan to tarnish his image as a tribal person and thus blemish the tribal society as a whole.

 

Notably, notices have also been served to the media institutions of Delhi as well as the media institutions of Ranchi by the Gonda police station of Ranchi Police. The media institutions are being asked that on January 27 on what basis news of raids on the then CM Hemant Soren's residence in Shanti Niketan, Delhi were published.

 

In the notice sent to journalists of media organizations based in Delhi and Ranchi, they have been asked to appear and provide information of their source of news.
