To improve travel between Gurugram and Noida, the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is planning a new rapid rail corridor. The proposed line will run from IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram to Surajpur in Greater Noida and will bypass Delhi completely.
The corridor is part of the Centre’s long-term plan to link Delhi’s IGI Airport with the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar through a high-speed rail network.
For this project, NCRTC has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Haryana government. As per the draft, the route will pass through Sector 54, enter Faridabad at Bata Chowk, continue via the Sector 85–86 junction, move towards Noida sectors 142 and 168, and end at Surajpur.
The six-station corridor is estimated to cost around Rs 15,000 crore and likely to become Haryana’s third Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) project.
The other two RRTS corridors—Delhi–Gurgaon–Manesar–Bawal and Delhi–Panipat–Karnal—have already been cleared by the Public Investment Board and are awaiting final approval from the Union Cabinet.
The Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government are also exploring an RRTS corridor either from Sarai Kale Khan to Jewar or from Ghaziabad to Jewar. The final routes will depend on feasibility study results.
The Gurugram–Noida corridor will connect with the Delhi–Bawal corridor at IFFCO Chowk, while Surajpur is planned as a station on the proposed Ghaziabad–Jewar route.
According to officials, travel time from IFFCO Chowk to Faridabad will be just 22 minutes, while reaching Noida will take around 38 minutes. The corridor is expected to reduce pressure on Delhi’s transport system and improve NCR connectivity.
While NCRTC has proposed an elevated corridor, the Haryana government has suggested building it underground within Gurugram because of high land costs and dense urban development.
