Jammu and Kashmir leader and Lok Sabha MP Aga Ruhullah said on Monday that there is no confusion between the National Conference and him.
He said people of Jammu and Kashmir had elected him to represent them and fight for their rights, including Article 370.
“There is no confusion. People have trusted me with the responsibility to fight for Article 370 and the state’s rights. I am ready to fight that battle even if I have to fight alone,” Ruhullah said.
Responding to a question on the Budgam by-polls, he said the matter would be decided by the party high command once the Election Commission announces the schedule.
He said, “Once the election is announced, we will see. One major responsibility people have given us is to stop the BJP. Acting on that is both a political and moral duty.”
Reflecting on the delay in the polls, he said, “It was illegal. A conspiracy behind it is to purposely keep the Assembly out of place.”
On the government appointing observers, Ruhullah said, “We have heard that observers have been appointed. It is hoped the by-elections will be held in Bihar.”
On the Ladakh situation, he said the government’s mistakes have forced people to resort to violence. This is a testament that even the quietest people in Ladakh have been forced to resort to violent protests.
He alleged that even former BJP supporters are now facing UAPA and NSA charges. “The BJP treats anyone who disagrees, even democratically, as an enemy,” he said.
