Former Indian cricket team captain and Jharkhand icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been served a notice by the Jharkhand State Housing Board over the alleged commercial use of a residential plot allotted in his name.
According to official sources, the H-10A plot located in Ranchi’s Harmu area was allotted strictly for residential purposes.
However, it has been alleged that a pathology laboratory is currently operating from the premises, which would constitute a violation of the allotment terms and conditions. The Housing Board has sought a clarification from Dhoni in this regard.
In the notice, the Board has clearly stated that if a satisfactory reply is not received within 15 days, it may recommend cancellation of the plot allotment.
Officials said that in recent weeks, the Board has initiated scrutiny of several cases involving the alleged commercial use of residential plots as part of efforts to ensure compliance with housing regulations.
The development comes shortly after Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren publicly praised Dhoni at an event, describing him as the pride of the state.
Sources added that Dhoni is currently not residing at the Harmu property. He is understood to be living at his farmhouse located along Ring Road in Ranchi.
The Jharkhand State Housing Board is now awaiting his response, based on which further action will be decided.
