Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s controversial remarks regarding the DNA of people from Bihar continue to elicit strong objections from various quarters, including significant criticism from within the Congress party itself.
In an interview with a television channel, AICC in-charge of NSUI, Kanhaiya Kumar, implicitly faulted the Chief Minister for his comments. When asked to react to Revanth Reddy’s assertion that the DNA of Telangana people was superior to that of Bihar people, Kanhaiya Kumar replied: “It is better to ask this question to Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor. These days, he has taken on the task of responding to such remarks.”
In a video clip circulating on social media, Kanhaiya Kumar stressed that it was "uncalled for to make such statements that humiliate others." He emphasised that his criticism was non-partisan: “Irrespective of such a person being in our team or another team, we will call such a person rude and ill-mannered. Even if he is from our party, there will be no change in our stand. Let there be no confusion.”
Revanth Reddy’s comments have understandably sparked anger in Bihar. It is noted that the criticism adds to the political pressure from figures such as Prashant Kishor, who has already vowed to ensure the defeat of the Congress, and specifically Revanth Reddy, in the upcoming Telangana elections.
