Launching a scathing critique of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over the fallout of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and former Minister KT Rama Rao has slammed the CM’s "insurmountable incompetence" and "superfluous ego" as the main culprits in derailing the state’s progress. He claimed that the Chief Minister’s decisions have now saddled the taxpayer with an additional £1.4 billion (approximately ₹15,000 crore) debt burden.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Rama Rao accused the Chief Minister of "goondagardi" (hooliganism or intimidation), which he alleges has not only stalled crucial welfare programmes but has also scared off major investor Larsen & Toubro (L&T) from the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
"Wah Revanth! Wah! You did it again," he wrote, suggesting, "You managed to derail the development of Telangana, yet again! Not just because of your insurmountable incompetence but also because of your superfluous ego…"
Expressing fury over L&T’s departure from the Hyderabad Metro Rail operations, Rama Rao claimed that Revanth Reddy’s "super inflated ego" led to the abrupt cancellation of the planned Airport Metro line, rerouting it towards a "nonexistent 'Fourth City'" to serve the CM’s "real estate needs."
He further highlighted that Revanth Reddy had allegedly boasted on national television about asking the police to jail the CFO of L&T. Rama Rao asserted this move was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the company’s reputation and threaten them in connection with the Medigadda barrage issues within the Kaleshwaram project.
"You threatened a huge corporation like L&T with cases in Medigadda just for your sick political narratives and commissions," he stated, labelling the entire episode as an act of revenge politics that has now backfired. "But luckily for L&T, they don’t have to put up with an incompetent Chief Minister unlike the rest of Telangana. They are walking away!" he added.
Rama Rao concluded by asserting that "The cost of your super-inflated ego and Goondagardi is £1.4 billion (₹15,000 crore) debt on Telangana taxpayers."
