Having wrapped up his rounds in the gram panchayats, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is shifting gears for the final stretch of the municipal election campaign. Starting Wednesday, he is hitting the road for a series of high-energy district tours to drum up support for the Congress party ahead of the February 11 polls.
The Chief Minister’s itinerary is packed. He is slated to kick things off in Miryalguda within the old Nalgonda district on Wednesday. From there, he’ll head to Choppadandi in Karimnagar on Thursday, move to Nizamabad Rural on Friday, and swing through Parigi in Rangareddy on Saturday. The whirlwind tour is currently set to wind down on Sunday in Bhupalpally. As of now, his plans for Medak on Monday remain a bit of a question mark.
Before he heads out, Reddy will huddle with his ministers and top party brass in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The timing is critical because Monday marks the final deadline for candidates to withdraw their nominations.
The primary agenda for this internal meeting is to get a reality check on the party's "winning prospects". With the withdrawal deadline looming, the leadership is particularly focused on managing "rebel" candidates who might split the vote. They’ll be looking to finalise their ground strategy and ensure the party puts up a unified front as the race for the municipalities enters the home stretch.
