At a time when the Grand Old Party Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha are grappling with several odds to finalise candidates and seat-sharing formula on 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s latest demand has put the INDIA bloc in a quandary.
The RJD has sought two seats out of the 14 in the State. In a press conference on Monday, RJD has clearly demanded Chatra and Palamu seats from the alliance.
Jharkhand Minister Satyanand Bhokta, who is the lone MLA of RJD in the State, said that RJD’s support base is strong in Chatra and Palamu constituencies so it is the party’s right to contest on the two seats.
RJD State President Sanjay Singh Yadav reiterated that his party has mass support in the two constituencies therefore it should be given a chance to contest from Palamu and Chatra.
Notably, the RJD has rejected the formula of 7-5-1-1. As per the formula, Congress was to get 07 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, JMM to get 5 Lok Sabha seats and RJD-CPI-ML one seat each.
While the NDA has announced candidates for all 14 seats in the State the INDI Alliance has announced candidates for only three seats.
The JMM is also looking for more than five seats this time saying that it has a strong presence in tribal-dominated seats.
