Arunachal Pradesh is undergoing a “historic” transformation in road and bridge connectivity, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Thursday, highlighting unprecedented progress under the state government’s “PEMA 3.0 – Year of Reforms and Growth” initiative.
Addressing the achievements on social media, Khandu said rural roads have expanded by 251 per cent and 3,750 km of national highways have been constructed, reflecting the administration’s focus on inclusive development and accessibility.
“Arunachal Pradesh is scripting a new chapter in connectivity. With relentless efforts and visionary planning, we have expanded road infrastructure to even the remotest corners of the state,” Khandu wrote on X.
The Chief Minister said the Centre has sanctioned over Rs 55,000 crore for Frontier Highways, aimed at strengthening inter-district connectivity, boosting border area development, and enhancing tourism potential. “Our people living along the borders will no longer feel isolated. Frontier Highways will not only strengthen national security but also open up vast opportunities for socio-economic growth,” he added.

Highlighting the state’s commitment, Khandu said 12.9 per cent of Arunachal Pradesh’s budget is allocated to roads and bridges, the highest in India. “Roads are lifelines of Arunachal Pradesh. Our government is fully committed to ensuring that every village, every district, and every citizen benefits from this transformation,” he emphasised.
Under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive State Road Development Plan (CMCSRDP), Rs 965.99 crore has been sanctioned, and 393.57 km of roads completed. Additionally, 270 bridges have been built, ensuring all-weather access to remote valleys and facilitating local economic growth.
“With improved connectivity comes prosperity. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected Arunachal Pradesh,” Khandu concluded, underlining the government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive infrastructure development.
