The Congress has sent a show-cause notice to a fifth MLA, Jarnail Singh, linked to the cross-voting in the Haryana Rajya Sabha election. The notice was issued early Friday morning. The MLA from Ratia was told to respond within seven days. The Congress has warned that failure to reply within the given time will lead to further action according to the law and party rules.

Disciplinary Action Committee Haryana Congress Member-Secretary Rohit Jain said the notice has been issued on the directions of committee chairman Dharmpal Malik.

Earlier, the Congress had issued similar notices to four other MLAs—Shalley Chaudhary (Naraingarh), Renu Bala (Sadhaura-SC), Mohammad Ilyas (Punahana), and Mohammad Israil (Hathin).

The notice states that during the recent Rajya Sabha election, the MLA allegedly voted against the party’s official direction, leading to the cancellation or invalidation of the vote. It added that if proven, the act would be seen as a deliberate move against the party’s stand and a serious breach of discipline. Such conduct, the notice says, amounts to anti-party activity and violates party rules, unity, and core principles.
