Rudraprayag Police on Wednesday stepped up its district-wide 'Operation Cyber Suraksha' campaign to strengthen efforts against cybercrime and help people affected by online fraud.

The campaign focuses on quickly resolving cybercrime complaints, taking immediate action on reports received through the 1930 cyber helpline, implementing the e-Zero FIR system effectively, and recovering money lost by victims of online scams at the earliest.

Officials said the drive also aims to keep records of cyber criminals updated on the designated portal, ensure prompt registration of FIRs in cybercrime cases involving women and children, and speed up the disposal of pending cybercrime cases.

Speaking about the campaign, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rudraprayag Niharika Tomar said the main goal is to provide timely relief to people who have lost money in cyber fraud.

She said following directions from the Police Headquarters in Dehradun, a month-long cyber safety campaign is being carried out across Uttarakhand in July. Rudraprayag Police is actively participating in the drive by reviewing complaints registered on the NCRP portal, cases related to digital arrest scams, and other ongoing cybercrime investigations. She added that the priority is to recover the stolen money and return it to the victims.

SP Tomar said the campaign is not limited to financial fraud. It also includes recovering lost property and protecting children from online exploitation.
"Additionally, the campaign encompasses other procedures such as recovering and returning lost mobile phones, as well as taking action against the dissemination of child pornography and sexual abuse material on the internet, based on tips received from the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)," she added.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the functioning of the Social Welfare Department earlier on Wednesday. He directed officials to prepare welfare schemes that address not only current needs but also the challenges expected over the next 25 years.

The Chief Minister said welfare programmes should remain effective in the long run and become models that other states can follow.

"Our government's objective is not merely to launch welfare schemes but to establish a sustainable and effective system that meets the needs of future generations as well. Social security, education, and dignity are the rights of every eligible citizen. Uttarakhand will develop a model of good governance that inspires other states across the country to adopt similar practices," CM Dhami said.
