In a scathing attack on the state leadership, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has called for a red corner notice to be issued against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, suggesting there is a genuine risk that he might flee the country to evade accountability.
The MP levelled serious allegations of financial impropriety against the Chief Minister, claiming that Mann has acquired a vast estate of some 2,400 acres in Australia. Turning her focus to the state's precarious economy, she accused the AAP administration of driving Punjab into a crippling debt trap, asserting that the state is now burdened by loans totalling Rs 5 lakh crore.
She cautioned that once this government’s tenure ends in six months, a series of major scandals will be exposed, promising that those complicit in corruption will face the full force of the law.
Harsimrat Badal further alleged that the Chief Minister is not alone in his exit strategy, claiming that several of his MLAs are also making arrangements to relocate abroad. A warning was issued to them that no matter how far they go, sooner or later they would have to pay back every single penny to the government. In conclusion, she said that the "dictatorship" and "high-handedness" ruling the state of Punjab were nearing their ultimate fate.
