A Mumbai court has granted five days of police custody to Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, who stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence on January 16.
The court acknowledged the possibility of an international conspiracy, highlighting the accused's Bangladeshi citizenship and the need for a thorough investigation.

Shariful Islam Shehzad, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, was arrested early on Sunday from Thane district. His arrest followed a detailed probe involving surveillance footage and leads that tracked his movements.
The accused had assumed multiple aliases, including Bijoy Das and Vijay Das, to evade authorities.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan turned violent after the intruder attempted to burglarise his home.
The actor sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and near the spine, leading to a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital.
Saif Ali Khan’s recovery is progressing well, with doctors anticipating his discharge in the coming days.
Investigating Officer Manzoor Ahmad emphasised the need to explore any potential links to international networks, stating, "The accused is a citizen of Bangladesh.
The suspicion of international conspiracy cannot be ruled out. So, sufficient time has to be given to the investigating officer."
The Mumbai Police are collecting further evidence, including the documents used by the accused to illegally enter India.
Shariful Islam Shehzad had been working in Mumbai and Thane for several months under assumed identities, making the investigation complex.
