Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said proper arrangements must be made to ensure each state receives its rightful share of river water.
He said Haryana has been giving Delhi more water than its share, while Haryana itself is not getting its full share from Punjab due to the non-construction of the SYL canal. He added that once Haryana gets its share, Rajasthan will also benefit.

He made these remarks at the Northern Zonal Council meeting in Surajkund, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Saini said Punjab was the land of the Gurus, the sacred soil where Guru Sevak Bhai Kanhaiya offered water to even enemy soldiers on the battlefield. The Haryana CM urged Punjab to remember the great traditions of the Gurus while addressing the water dispute.

Chief Ministers of Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Himachal Pradesh Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma, Delhi Rekha Gupta, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, and the Lt Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta were also present.

Saini said, “If some colleges of Haryana become affiliated with the university, it will benefit both PU and state students.”

"By pooling our resources, sharing knowledge, and adopting each other's best practices, we can turn the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ into reality," he said.

Saini also said ensuring the safety of children was everyone’s responsibility. With the implementation of the three new criminal laws in Haryana, cases under the POCSO Act were being disposed of faster, he added.

Saini said to ensure affordable healthcare, the government strengthened Ayushman Bharat by integrating its own Chirayu Yojana with it. Saini claimed that out of the 217 promises made in the last Assembly elections, the government has already fulfilled 47 in the first year.
