Saini sworn in as Haryana CM, PM and top NDA leaders present
Nayab Singh Saini takes oath as Haryana CM for second time.
Nayab Singh Saini has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second time in a high-profile ceremony today which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, key BJP leaders, and NDA allies.
The ceremony, held in Panchkula under tight security, saw Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administering the oath of office and secrecy to Saini.
The chief minister was first appointed in March this year, replacing Manohar Lal Khattar. Several of Saini’s cabinet ministers are expected to be sworn in soon.
Ahead of the ceremony, Saini paid respects at the Valmiki Bhawan, a local gurdwara, and the Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula, reflecting a tradition of religious visits before major political events.
The BJP achieved a historic victory in the October 5 assembly elections, securing 48 of 90 seats and defying expectations for a third consecutive term.
The Congress, the main opposition, secured 37 seats, while regional parties like the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to make significant gains.
The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), once a dominant force in Haryana politics, managed only two seats.
The BJP's success was particularly notable in the constituencies reserved for Scheduled Castes, flipping eight of 17 SC seats, including Nilokheri, Pataudi, and Narwana.
In a significant victory, BJP’s Harinder Singh unseated Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan in Hodal.
The new government faces the challenge of addressing key issues, including rural development and employment.
