The Rajasthan High Court on Monday set September 22 to hear actor Salman Khan's appeal against his conviction in a black buck poaching case. The appeal of Khan and the leave to appeal for the state government in respect of the acquittal of co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and local Dushyant Singh would be heard by Justice Manoj Kumar Garg.
The trial court had convicted the actor and sentenced him to five years' jail on April 5, 2018. The high court development, followed after both petitions were clubbed and set for hearing after Khan's appeal was transferred from the district and sessions court to the high court.
"Salman Khan's lawyers had previously sought a transfer petition in the high court against his district and session court sentence, so that the appeal sought against him could be heard together with the appeal sought by the state government," prosecution counsel Mahipal Bishnoi said.

The transfer was held up for some technical reasons and therefore the hearing in both the appeals had been pending since long, he added. In 1998, while filming the movie "Hum Saath Saath Hain", Khan was accused of having hunted two blackbucks at Kankani village in Jodhpur district.
Khan, the principal accused, was convicted by the chief judicial magistrate's court (Jodhpur district), while Saif Ali Khan, Bendre, Tabu, Neelam, and Singh were acquitted.
The actor appealed in criminal fashion against his conviction while the state government appealed in leave to appeal against the acquittal of the co-accused individuals.
