Pani Taram, the BJP MLA from the 21st Koloriang constituency in Kurung Kumey district, has drawn attention for his proactive approach to tackling educational challenges in remote border areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
On a recent inspection tour of government schools in isolated villages, where roads are often disconnected and bridges washed out, MLA Pani Taram stepped in to teach classes when he found several teachers absent.
Known for his dedication, Taram, who is also an advisor to the PHED minister, traversed rugged terrain to reach these villages and interact directly with students.
A former government officer who took voluntary retirement to join politics, Taram won his first election in 2014 and regained his seat in 2024 with a significant majority after a defeat in 2019.
In his statement to the media, Taram pointed out his commitment to improving education, healthcare, and road connectivity in Koloriang, one of Arunachal Pradesh's most underdeveloped areas.
"Enhancing basic infrastructure and ensuring quality education are essential to halting the migration from our border towns," he asserted.
Taram mentioned the Vibrant Village Program (VVP), which aims to revitalise interior border towns with an allocation of over 600 crores for the Koloriang constituency.
According to Taram, the funding is intended to upgrade infrastructure and essential services, encouraging residents to stay and contribute to local development.
Taram's hands-on teaching efforts have not only inspired the local community but also spotlighted the urgent need for better educational facilities and support for teachers in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
