Today, former Union Minister Santosh Gangwar took oath as the 12th Governor of Jharkhand. Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sujit Narayan Prasad administered the oath of office and secrecy to Santosh Gangwar.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren, Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato, ministers of the state, bureaucrats, judicial officers and many BJP leaders were present on the occasion.
President Draupadi Murmu appointed governors in many states on July 27. Gangwar was appointed Governor of Jharkhand. CP Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Jharkhand, has been made the Governor of Maharashtra.
Seventy-five-year-old Santosh Gangwar is a resident of Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh). The eight-time MP from Bareilly has been Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Minister of State for Finance, Minister of State for Textiles, and Minister of State for Petroleum at the Center.
Gangwar has also been Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs. In 1996, he was also the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh BJP. Apart from this, he has also been a member of the BJP working committee. He has also been the chairperson of the Urban Co-operative Bank in Bareilly.
Gangwar received his BSc and LLB degrees from Agra University and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. He has also gone to jail during the Emergency in the country.
Santosh Gangwar reached Ranchi on Tuesday evening and was welcomed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpna Soren, ministers of the State government and senior bureaucrats at Birsa Munda Airport. He was also given a guard of honour at the airport.
