The Himachal Pradesh Government has announced that all government and private schools and colleges, including District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), will remain closed till September 7. The step has been taken to ensure the safety of students and teachers as heavy rain continues in the state.

 

According to the order issued by Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, the decision comes after reports of landslides, falling trees, blocked roads, power cuts, water supply disruptions, and damage to public property across Himachal. The government has also warned that the bad weather may continue, which could lead to more such incidents.

 

Kanwar said the safety of children and staff was the top priority. Teachers and administrative staff will also not be required to attend schools and colleges during this period. However, institutions have been asked to continue classes online as much as possible.

 

Heads of schools and colleges have been told to stay alert and protect school property. They must take measures to secure records, furniture, and equipment if there is any risk of damage due to the weather.
