Interacting with workers at the site, Scindia said the initiative aligns with the Centre’s focus on women-led development and enhancing livelihood opportunities in smaller towns and rural areas.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday inaugurated a garment training and production centre in Badarwas, Shivpuri district, developed with support from the Adani Group, as part of efforts to expand employment opportunities and strengthen local manufacturing.

The facility, spread over 50,000 sq. ft., is expected to create direct employment for nearly 1,800 women as it scales up operations from 160 to 600 machines. Once fully operational, it is projected to produce up to 2,000 jackets per day.

Interacting with workers at the site, Scindia said that the initiative aligns with the Centre’s focus on women-led development and enhancing livelihood opportunities in smaller towns and rural areas.

Officials said women employed at the unit are expected to earn between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000 per month, with the project aimed at enabling financial independence and supporting the government’s broader ‘Lakhpati Didi’ push.

Highlighting the project’s timeline, Scindia noted that the unit was completed in under 18 months after its foundation stone was laid in January 2025, calling it an example of “time-bound implementation on the ground”.

He also said there are plans to eventually convert the facility into a company owned by its workers, allowing women to transition from employees to stakeholders. The minister added that Badarwas could develop into a specialised manufacturing hub over time, drawing parallels with established clusters such as Chanderi.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to bring investment into the Shivpuri region and expand non-farm employment opportunities, particularly for women.
