What began as a routine scolding by a mother over watching cartoons soon turned into a tense search for a seven-year-old girl in Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh.
The incident took place in a village in the Bhoranj area on Friday morning when the child’s mother, who was at home with her three children, scolded her eldest daughter for watching cartoons and asked her to eat food, officials said.
Upset by the scolding, the girl quietly stepped out of the house while her mother was busy with household work, they added. When the girl did not return for a long time, the family grew worried and immediately informed the Bhoranj police station.
The police acted swiftly and checked CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas, as the matter involved the safety of a young child.
After an intensive search that lasted nearly four hours, the police traced the girl, who had walked about five kilometres away from her home.
The girl was safely reunited with her parents, who expressed relief and thanked the police administration for the timely rescue. Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh said the girl was found within a few hours due to prompt action by the police.
